About Dr. Amy

I’m a cognitive psychologist, Christian counselor, clinical researcher, child development specialist, podcast host, and parent educator. I’m also the Director of Psychology & Research at LearningRx World Headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO where I specialize in neuroplasticity research for neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD along with brain injury and learning disabilities. My brain training research has been published in peer-reviewed medical and psychology journals and presented at conferences around the country.

I have a PhD in psychology and a master’s degree in early childhood education, and have worked with neurodivergent kids and their families for over 30 years. I've worked in private, public, non-profit, and military organizations supporting kids and parents my entire career. I’m an ADHD mom and a mom with ADHD…so I get the struggle from multiple perspectives. My brain is neurodivergent, and I have a hard time with sensory processing, emotion regulation, and large motor coordination. And I make fun of myself about it all!

I’m married to the amazing Jeff Moore, a retired Air Force fighter pilot now working as a surgical nurse. (He’s a classic overachiever like me!) Our book, Hearts-On ADHD Parenting: Brain-Based, Grace-Filled Strategies for Raising Kids with Big Emotions and Challenging Behaviors, comes out this July.

We have three incredible adult sons (ages 21, 25, and 27) and a very mischievous but super soft Siberian cat. I'm originally from South Carolina, but we’ve called Colorado home since 2006.
